Reader Question: Manifest Your Dreams Or Manifest Money?

Merrilyn from South Australia sent me the following email…

Dream Manifestation Question

Merrilyn's dream is to work with horses, but it's just not within her budget at this time.

When we really think about it we all have dreams we want to manifest. You can probably think of at least 1 or 2 of your own right now.

What is stopping you from manifesting your dreams?

For most people the only thing standing in between them and their dreams is money.

So what do you do? Do you focus on manifesting the money or the dream itself?

Here Is What I Did…

I was in the same situation as Merrilyn. I had a dream I wanted to manifest and I simply didn't have the money at the time to make it a reality.

My dream was and still is We Are Manifestors, i.e. this website and everything it is intended to accomplish. The problem was, just like Merrilyn I didn't have the money.

See to make a website like this, and really do it right, you have to…

- buy a domain name e.g. wearemanifestors.com which costs about $10 a year but according to many SEO (Search Engine Optimization) experts if you want your website to appear in Google's search results when people do a search for a relevant keyword you should register it for 5 years.

- pay for web hosting, which means you have to pay a company to rent space and resources on their computers or servers so that your site can be accessed online and that can cost anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, or more, every month!

- build an email list to engage your visitors, the service I use that manages all the software and complexities of operating an email list costs at least $19 per month depending on how many people opt in and choose to subscribe to the list.

- and so much more that I don't want to bore you with all the details, in short it is very easy for a project like this to cost thousands of dollars in startup and development, and over time it can end up costing thousands of dollars more per month to maintain and grow.

Plus, if you are going to create a site like this you want to make sure it is going to be around for awhile. Obviously you wouldn't want to create the site, and have it disappear the next month because you can't afford the hosting any more.

I didn't have the money. I had the dream. I felt divinely inspired. I knew it was what I was meant to do, but I didn't have the means to do it. So I had to decide, just like Merrilyn do I focus on manifesting the money or do I focus on manifesting the dream?

I realized that although the money was a vital component, a necessary means to an end, my heart, my passion, my happiness wasn't tied directly to the money itself, rather all of those powerful feelings that can help fuel manifestation were tied directly to We Are Manifestors.

I realized that I knew my primary focus had to be on the dream and not the money.

I came to that conclusion in November 2008 and started working towards the manifestation of my dream at that time.

I spent countless hours applying The Manifestation Formula and The Manifestation Process.

At first I almost completely ignored the money needed, not knowing where it was going to come from, but holding a belief that it would manifest.

In December 2008 I was able to register the domain name for 1 year, it would be another 10 months from that time before I was able to afford to register it for the 5 years SEO experts recommend.

Focusing just on manifesting the dream wasn't enough, ultimately I found that I had to spend at least some time focusing on the money as well, once I understood that and acted on it everything fell into place nicely.

I now have the site, email list, and other various expenses covered for at least the next 6 to 12 months. It took almost a year to go from having the dream to where I am now.

So let that serve as an example for you, the fact that this site is here now and you are reading it, is proof (circumstantial though it may be) that you can make your dreams a reality using the advice on this site.

Crossing The Dream Stream

Here is another way to look at it…

Dream Stream

Imagine that you are standing on one side of a stream and that the manifestation of your dreams is on the other side.

How are you going to cross that stream and get to your dreams?

You need a bridge! (like Merrilyn and I both needed money)

You could stand on the one side of the stream and start applying The Manifestation Formula and The Manifestation Process but if you did so while only thinking about your dreams on the other side and not taking action to get there, i.e. building a bridge or doing whatever it takes to make your way to the other side then you might never get there.

On the other hand, once you realize that you need to build that bridge and make your way to the other side, you might also realize that building a bridge can be really hard work, time consuming, frustrating, and you might encounter any number of problems while trying to build that bridge. In the process you could become so frustrated trying to build the bridge (or get the money) that you just give up.

Focus too much on what is on the other side of the stream and you may never actually get there.

Focus too much on the bridge (money or the means to get what you want) and you may lose sight of and never actually see the manifestation of your goal.

The answer is balance.

Stay focused on your dreams, they fuel the positive feelings that fuel manifestation itself, and while you are doing that realize that you need to take practical action to overcome any obstacles in your way, avoid frustration while doing that work by thinking about the end goal.

While you are working hard to build that bridge, focus more on the end goal of where that bridge will take you than on the difficulty or frustration of building the bridge itself.

I could say spend 70% of your time and energy focusing on the dream and 30% on the means to making it a reality, but the truth is that sometimes you might have to spend 70% of your time and energy focusing on the means and 30% on the dream, yet in some cases manifestation being miraculous as it can be you may only need to spend 1% of your time and energy on the means.

It is going to be a different process for every person and every dream, the one constant is that you need to not lose sight of the dream and make sure that you are using the dream to compel and motivate yourself to do whatever you have to do to actually cross that stream and see your dreams manifest.

Most importantly…

Do NOT let your longing for your dreams, or the frustration that may come from working towards them, rob you of enjoying the good you have right here right now in your life. Appreciate, savor, enjoy this moment!
